100

The 100th blog. Fitting, maybe?

Anyway, it's just that lol, and this one.

Farewell!

Variety Hour

The news is depressing, as Ze Frank once would have said. I wonder what he's doing now...

Trawling through the more obscure branches of the interwebs can lead to interesting results. I don't know if this was inspired by GarfieldminusGarfield, or vice versa, or not at all, but it seems that when you replace Garfield with a normal cat, you still get a comic that is much funnier than regular Garfield comics.

Idrewthis.org seems to have slowed to a standstill, sadly. He makes a good point, though. And thus I present a second comic.

(edit: in case you're not that familiar with American political iconography, the elephant represents the Republican party. The Democratic party is represented by a donkey. I have no idea why this is the case.)

Mario - Game Over

It's a kind of mix - funny, but also not. You might like it.

That's all I got for today! Enjoy, and I'll see you again.

The Anti-Lol?

Yep, these are all real Garfield comics. The implication? According to Wikipedia, it's undecided whether this sequence means that every Garfield comic since is the titular cat hallucinating as he slowly starves to death in an empty house, abandoned by everyone.
Makes Garfield Minus Garfield look pretty tame, hey?

Shameless

(okay, so you need to click on this one to see it properly)
So it's been a while. I've had every part of the excuse spectrum thrown at me, from pure forgetfulness, to a week-long holiday to various parts of the South Coast (pretty awesome, by the way), to Blogger actually locking me out of Blogger. And Honours, as always, blows giant chunks of time out of my time. Still.
A comic from ihartdarth.com. This one might not be funny if you haven't seen the new Star Wars trilogy (ie episodes I-III), but it made me lol, because that little dialogue in the movie is just so damn ridiculous!

Lolcats are awesome, but this lolbird cracks me up to this very day.

This one's not so much a lol as it is mildly humourous, but Wikipedia has a list of every problem solved my MacGyver. Oh yes, some people really do have this much time on their hands.

Another comic book cover, courtesy of these guys. Have a read, then let's discuss.

Regardless of circumstances, what could possibly be wrong with her that is less embarassing than walking around with a metal box on her head?

I don't know if anyone's been watching the Gruen Transfer of late, but I caught an episode the other night and loved it to death. Explore their site; it's an amazingly funny, intellectual look at the way media works, with emphasis on advertising.

Now, my blogs here are never very 'tube heavy, but I feel like I should put in just one. It's the new ad for the American Discovery Channel, and while it might not make you laugh out loud, id it doesn't warm your heart then you don't have one. Oh, and it spawned a recent XKCD comic.

Enjoy.

(To be honest, I like the XKCD version more, even when I had no idea why they were singing "Boom-de-yada").

That's all, folks. See you next time.

Hargarglblargh

(edit: this lolcat made me laugh so hard (sitting here in the computer lab) that I had to come back and add it in. NOM NOM NOM)
This also applies to Brita jugs, and any kind of communal food product. I am considering installing a tiger in my future home on this premise.

AHHH INTERVIEW ON TUESDAY! Not just any interview, THE interview. But I think I did okay, 'part from forgetting to mention the Science & Tech award I won, out of all Science teachers in AUSTRALIA! Blargh. Anyway. Here's hoping it's all good.

Loltime 'tis. First and foremost, a video upon which no words can improve:

Yeah. I wish I could make up something like that.

This is a movie reference from graphjam (thanks for the link Fillet!), that I really enjoyed. I hope there are people out there who still get it:

Obligatory Lolcat:

I love it. But now I have the Tetris theme in my head. Nooo!

I'm stuck into research at the moment, so that'll be all for today. Hope everyone's enjoying the nearly-holiday-period. If you're already on holidays, welcome to the club! If you're not on holidays yet, there's light at the end of the tunnel.

..

It's the headlight of an oncoming train.

Sunday Edition

So it's a weekender DLOL posting from me, it seems. This isn't because I forgot, but since we were promised a contribution from Fillet on Thursday, and got a posting from JoJ on Friday, I thought I'd forgo until later.

Last night was our end-of-uni formal, which was 110% awesome. Good food, terrible wine and awesome company - I got to catch u p with some people I haven't really seen in months, or years. That's the way it goes, I guess, but it was a great night.

Anyway, it's time for loltime. I got introduced to the Scratch and Burn team a while back; apparently they had a run on MTV once upon a time or something. Here is arguably their best ever work: Hamlet in One Minute.

Oh how I lol'd. (Speaking of, when using "lol" as a verb, should the past tense be loled, lolled or lol'd? Hmm...)

What's that you say? You want some truly bad taste lols? I can do that! Cyanide and Happiness, to the rescue!

Really, really bad taste. But that's the Explosm team for you.

Finally, let it not be said that Messr. Munroe is one to leave things on a sad note. The Journal Saga continues!

See you later, people!

Commons Edition

...Seriously. Don't look too hard at it.

But what? 8pm and no lol from Joel?! Why, that practically rhymes!

Fact is, I'm sitting here in a cosy little corner of what used to be the 24hour lab and is now a place for people to come and talk in their phones at the top of their voices, calm and content in the knowledge that it's only Wednesday and I still have a day to get my act together and look at some videos that don't belong to one of our contributors, when WHAM ohgodit'sthursdayI'dbetterputthisassignmentonholdandwriteahastyblog!

Yeah. So this will be another mostly picture-driven lol, but it's also good to mix things up a bit. Luckily, I've got a decent stock of lolpics in the various far reaches of my computer which I look at now and again to stave off the onset of university-based depression, so it's no big deal to share a couple with you kids when I've been neglecting the 'tubes.
Yeah yeah, it's long past April Fools', I still get a dark little laugh out of actually imagining someone in that position. I suspect it would be slightly damp, with occasional patches of wanting to hang the wardens.

Also, from the same school of artistry that brought us Captain Oblivious and his Amazing See-Thorough Eyepatch, we have another comic segment which takes at least a bronze medal at the No Prize Olympics:

If I were a betting man, I'd say she died because she was decapitated...

Also, I lied before. I have watched a few videos of late. This particular one is also in the realm of Everyone Has Seen It, but I think it warrants a mention.
This particular edition has the first and second volumes in one easy-to-swallow file, so enjoy!

Animator vs. Animation - parts I and II

The Aussie Citizenship Test

Finally tonight, we have another comic strip from the archives of the far side of political correctness. I fr one think Weeties should ditch that King Weet guy, or whatever his name is, and take up this as their campaign slogan.

"The taste lures you in for a second helping"... Priceless ^_^

See you all later.

P.S. - Notice if you will how many looong sentences I used, and how many hyphens...

Significance Day, or, Extensions, or, Redemption Theatre Neo

(Couldn't resist)

Noooo!

So there's really been no good enough excuse for my absence. All I will say is that, if you remember how I've consistently said "whew, what a week", then consider that that was me balancing just on this side of having the time to do non-work related things.

But that's not going to make anybody lol, so let's get into the good stuff with the adventures of Bob and his Half-beard (with accompanying theme music)!

Adventures of Bobert and the Half Beard

Bobert has some funny Vlog-styled movies on his site. Nerdy as I am, I'm a big fan of his Final Fantasy XII video. It's funny even if you haven't played the game, because he's really not exaggerating.

Another gem from the depths of Icanhascheezburger. I feel like the cat is the part of me that knows how much I've got to do, and the man is the part of me that has to actually do the stuff and would rather be making animated sticktoons.

Similarly, in looking for recent lolcats to include, this one really did make me lol. And I'm in a computer lab.

I had more lolcats from days gone by, but they're at home, where I can access MSN, but nothing else on the Internet. I understand it not.

Oh hey, ever wanted to see a Internet personage actually react to his hate mail? Yeah, me neither, especially when people like Maddox do it. I get the feeling he used to be so talented, but for want of a less Star Wars-sounding allegory, got consumed by hatred and the Dark Side.

But Yahtzee, as is his way, has carried off the whole deal with a reasonable amount of panache...

(Yes, I drew the inspiration for my art style from his. No, it's not copying - I've got some significant differences - both now and in upcoming videos).

A friend of mine joined the group, "Ten reasons why gay marriage is wrong". I clicked through, and found their arguments to be very compelling. Read on:

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms, just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Now... I know trying to find humour in a Frezned video is like trying to find reflections in a mirror, but this is still my all-time favourite among his videos (back in the days when he had looong hair).

Frezned - Discernment

^_^ Love it.

There have been no new limericks on limerickdb.com since FOR EVER! This makes me sad, the very opposite of lolling.

This is a concept put forward by Randall Munroe of XKCD.
The idea is made of pure win. And also awesome. To put it simply, it generates random locations across America each day (down to specific latitude and longitude points), and people can meet there. A new location, impossible to predict, every day. Already there have been several meetups between XKCD readers, and the whole concept is just amazing. There's more detail here, if my explanation doesn't do it for you.

I would love to see one of these made up for Australia, but some 75% of the time, the location would be somewhere in our vast central desert system. Though, his algorithm manages to avoid the position landing in water, so maybe it'd be possible to adapt it...

I'm more than slightly interested in emailing him to ask...

Oh look, it's Questionably Politically Incorrect o'Clock!

Can anyone say, "STAB!"?

That's... got to be enough for one day. I hope it goes some way to redeeming me.

Keep smiling, ladies and gentlemen.

DIY DLOLC

...
...
I honestly don't have the time to write a lol at the moment...

I wrote one anyway...

IE crashed, and took my lol with it. All of it...

This made me depressed...

This is therefore a placeholder until tomorrow, when I might have some genuine spare time.

And All Their Woodland Friends

It's been another one of those weeks. Like, y'know, the kind I seem to have had every week since university went back. On the other hand - I've started vlogging again! Hoorays! I think I can maintain this format more effectively than the old method, and it's a bit more unique.

Dancing Animals in Love

You pretty much need to see this to believe it. The Vancouver Film School's progeny are a very strange breed...

Charlie the Unicorn

I figure there have to be a few people out there that still don't know the joy that is Charlie and Candy Mountain. For those poor deprived fools, here is the full version. Be sure to watch right to the end...

One more video for y'all is this little semi-gem, in keeping with my Woodland Animal Friends edition of everyone's favourite lol collection. It's Bambi, only... Not.

This last picture never fails to make me smile. Or at least, it hasn't yet. Keep lolling people; see you next week!

It's All About Me!

I'm not feeling very funny these days, for very valid if not publically-available reasons. But the show must go on, as they say, and it's so true.

This week's edition is, if you hadn't guessed, all about me. Selfish, I know. All of the links and pictures I present for you relate to my life in one form or another. See if you can guess them all.

You can have this one for free: I have this realisation at least twice a month.

Speaking of realisations, ever has a sudden epiphany after watching a movie? You can probably find it here. Look around while you're at it, but beware: TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Life.

Ah, Calvin and Hobbes comics. They really are peerless.

An oldie but a goodie: Cookie Monster asks, "Is me really monster?"

Oh boy.

Another week with no videos from me... I'll have a meatier lolpost for you all next week, hopefully.

Anyway ladies and gentlemen, have fun.

Themeless

Yes, I ate your cookie.

-----

This'll be a short edition from me - life's more busy busy busy than usual. So let's get into it, with another comic excerpt. This one's from a 60s X-MEN comic, probably by the same artist as whichever blockhead drew the periscope strip I showed you weeks back.

Read the text, then if you need to, read it again.

...

A what-coloured vehicle?!

Now for a Calvin & Hobbes comic. This one's posted on my bedroom door.

And when I have a classroom, it will be stuck to my desk.
T-shirts can be funny. I own two t-shirts from Threadless, and will be ordering more in the near future. This one I like, but prolly wouldn't wear.
Umm, that's me taken care of for this week. I'll be more organised by next week.
Also, let's give Tom a warm welcome for tomorrow!

Thursday Already?

Today is Webcomic Edition, mostly because I've been watching the aforementioned Zero Punctuation reviews and practically nothing else.

We'll start with a little dark comedy, because I'm all for irony and dark comedy.

Perry Bible Fellowship comics are right up my alley.

This next comic I'd probably post up in my own classroom somewhere.

Have a look at this picture, which has been floating around Facebook lately.

Now move away from the computer, or tilt the screen the right way, and watch him turn into Marilyn Monroe! I have no idea how they do this.

Finally (yeah, not the best effort level from me tonight), we have a lolpresident.

'nuff said.

Thanks for reading, this has been an Azukar Incorporated production. It's back to uni next week, so we'll see how posting goes.

All Good Things Come in Threes

Coincidence, or Grand Design? I have my own addition to the God-related lol business.

Behold: the astoundingly outrageous political slant of 1940s American comic books!

They've gone meta! Forget "the Jews killed Jesus", in fact it was the killers who killed the Jews who killed Jesus. Yeah. Peopel were not subtle in the WWII era.

In the genre of really dodgy comic book covers, take a long, hard look at these two panels, and see if you can spot the problem.

I took embarrassingly long to get it, as did my housemate. It's worth the effort - you'll burst out laughing when you see it.

Sorry, comic book artist person. You get no prizes from me.

In other news, I'm recently discovered Zero Punctuation. Not a grammatical problem, but instead a British-born, Australian game reviewer who has a muchly hilarious job creating animated reviews for The Escapist magazine. The only video I can embed is one of those he wrote before being signed up by the mag, but it's worth a look.

Go here to watch his other videos. They're updated weekly.

Zero Punctuation reviews "The Darkness" for the PS3

What's that you say? I need a lolcat to round out this edition? Oh, well if you insist...

This is THE best lolcat.

Oh, and I hate library computers. Every time I add a new photo, it puts another line between each of my paragraphs. Try explaining that without a bottle of wine behind your blood-brain barrier.

Okay, I'm done. Go check out sir Punctuation.
