Commons Edition

...Seriously. Don't look too hard at it.

But what? 8pm and no lol from Joel?! Why, that practically rhymes!

Fact is, I'm sitting here in a cosy little corner of what used to be the 24hour lab and is now a place for people to come and talk in their phones at the top of their voices, calm and content in the knowledge that it's only Wednesday and I still have a day to get my act together and look at some videos that don't belong to one of our contributors, when WHAM ohgodit'sthursdayI'dbetterputthisassignmentonholdandwriteahastyblog!

Yeah. So this will be another mostly picture-driven lol, but it's also good to mix things up a bit. Luckily, I've got a decent stock of lolpics in the various far reaches of my computer which I look at now and again to stave off the onset of university-based depression, so it's no big deal to share a couple with you kids when I've been neglecting the 'tubes.
Yeah yeah, it's long past April Fools', I still get a dark little laugh out of actually imagining someone in that position. I suspect it would be slightly damp, with occasional patches of wanting to hang the wardens.

Also, from the same school of artistry that brought us Captain Oblivious and his Amazing See-Thorough Eyepatch, we have another comic segment which takes at least a bronze medal at the No Prize Olympics:

If I were a betting man, I'd say she died because she was decapitated...

Also, I lied before. I have watched a few videos of late. This particular one is also in the realm of Everyone Has Seen It, but I think it warrants a mention.
This particular edition has the first and second volumes in one easy-to-swallow file, so enjoy!

Animator vs. Animation - parts I and II

The Aussie Citizenship Test

Finally tonight, we have another comic strip from the archives of the far side of political correctness. I fr one think Weeties should ditch that King Weet guy, or whatever his name is, and take up this as their campaign slogan.

"The taste lures you in for a second helping"... Priceless ^_^

See you all later.

P.S. - Notice if you will how many looong sentences I used, and how many hyphens...

The Uber-Cute Edition

Facebook finally seems to have exhausted its mine of adlols. It's a shame really - because I loved them ever so.

John's Engrish entry yesterday was rather portentous I think, for I have found this little gem on the Cute With Chris blog. I won't give it all away, but it includes the following quote:

On the photo my cousin's pussy look like she have only one leg in the front. My cousin's pussy will get all the viewers votes.

I'm having flashbacks to the glory days of when they used to play reruns of Are You Being Served. It leaves me with a warm feeling inside.

Also, Cute With Chris has changed the way I think about the words "Bananas Yellow". I think it would be a stunning name for a character in a melodrama or something. Or maybe a Pokémon nickname.

Can I put in a vlogbrothers video in now? Can I do that? I'm going to do it. It was fantastic.

Yaaaaay.

Finally, because Twitter is being an absolute naughty word, there is no Tweet of the week. I'm actually very depressed about it. More than is healthy.

Oh well. Hopefully it'll be sorted by next week.

I Speak No Engrish...

I've been working on all things web with Mr. HalfScottishGuy. Literally all day. I am exhausted. I haven't looked at anything but this computer screen for many many hours. Ouch.

Anyway I only have a couple of ENGRISH MOMENTS.

Another Killert00thbrush?

Nor did we... really.

Significance Day, or, Extensions, or, Redemption Theatre Neo

(Couldn't resist)

Noooo!

So there's really been no good enough excuse for my absence. All I will say is that, if you remember how I've consistently said "whew, what a week", then consider that that was me balancing just on this side of having the time to do non-work related things.

But that's not going to make anybody lol, so let's get into the good stuff with the adventures of Bob and his Half-beard (with accompanying theme music)!

Adventures of Bobert and the Half Beard

Bobert has some funny Vlog-styled movies on his site. Nerdy as I am, I'm a big fan of his Final Fantasy XII video. It's funny even if you haven't played the game, because he's really not exaggerating.

Another gem from the depths of Icanhascheezburger. I feel like the cat is the part of me that knows how much I've got to do, and the man is the part of me that has to actually do the stuff and would rather be making animated sticktoons.

Similarly, in looking for recent lolcats to include, this one really did make me lol. And I'm in a computer lab.

I had more lolcats from days gone by, but they're at home, where I can access MSN, but nothing else on the Internet. I understand it not.

Oh hey, ever wanted to see a Internet personage actually react to his hate mail? Yeah, me neither, especially when people like Maddox do it. I get the feeling he used to be so talented, but for want of a less Star Wars-sounding allegory, got consumed by hatred and the Dark Side.

But Yahtzee, as is his way, has carried off the whole deal with a reasonable amount of panache...

(Yes, I drew the inspiration for my art style from his. No, it's not copying - I've got some significant differences - both now and in upcoming videos).

A friend of mine joined the group, "Ten reasons why gay marriage is wrong". I clicked through, and found their arguments to be very compelling. Read on:

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms, just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Now... I know trying to find humour in a Frezned video is like trying to find reflections in a mirror, but this is still my all-time favourite among his videos (back in the days when he had looong hair).

Frezned - Discernment

^_^ Love it.

There have been no new limericks on limerickdb.com since FOR EVER! This makes me sad, the very opposite of lolling.

This is a concept put forward by Randall Munroe of XKCD.
The idea is made of pure win. And also awesome. To put it simply, it generates random locations across America each day (down to specific latitude and longitude points), and people can meet there. A new location, impossible to predict, every day. Already there have been several meetups between XKCD readers, and the whole concept is just amazing. There's more detail here, if my explanation doesn't do it for you.

I would love to see one of these made up for Australia, but some 75% of the time, the location would be somewhere in our vast central desert system. Though, his algorithm manages to avoid the position landing in water, so maybe it'd be possible to adapt it...

I'm more than slightly interested in emailing him to ask...

Oh look, it's Questionably Politically Incorrect o'Clock!

Can anyone say, "STAB!"?

That's... got to be enough for one day. I hope it goes some way to redeeming me.

Keep smiling, ladies and gentlemen.

Coconut

Well wouldn't you know it? Facebook has done it again with the ads! Bless - I'm never short of entertainment so long as some internet company thinks it knows what I'm after!

How's that for fashion?! This is funny on so many levels I can't begin to describe it!

If you're not familiar with the whatthebuckshow, then that's okay, although even dirty non-subscribers like me are familiar with him. The following tweet by him left me highly amused for reasons that are probably obvious, but I shall not disclose.

The other day I re-checked out Marieke Hardy's blog. I'd read it once before ages ago and was less than impressed, but now - well I have never laughed so hard at the word 'coconut' in my entire life!

TWO MORE LOLCATS... or a lolcat and a lolhippo...*cough*

Leaves me with a warm, fuzzy feeling.

Also, here is an extract from one of K80Blog's video descriptions:

One day I will understand that some people live in a constant state of confusion and there is nothing I can do to help. Today is not that day.

It provoked a wry laugh from me. The kind that escapes from the corner of a smirk. K80 is wonderful.

I had others, but they were favourited in my Google Reader, which for some reason has begun to disagree with my home computer. They'll have to wait until next week!

Finally, tweet of the week:

This blog is becoming less "The Daily Lol" and more "The Weekly Lol". What's up guys?

Single"quote"Johnin-jokeCommunistpooptweet

Sometimes I think targeted advertising goes a little too far don't you? Obviously my particulars are being used in this advertisement so that it speaks directly to me, only it comes out a little bit ridiculous.
20 and still single? Haha! Poor me! I must be something wrong with me, being all single and 20 like I am. I'm obviously past my prime. Perhaps I'll find an old maid, 19 or something, on this SinglesNet thing.

I found this "blog" via the Blogger front page. It's good for a few "lols".

That Garfield Minus Garfield site delivers a new lonelyJohn to my Reader every day (or thereabouts).

Never laughed so much in my life. Well I probably have - but not at an in-joke on the internet.

And the semi-obligatory lolcats. Because I love them:

Because political humour is better with cats. By the way, have you seen that t-shirt with the...? Oh never mind.

Because it has the word 'poop' and a cat with sans-serif text captions.

Finally here is an old direct message a friend sent me on Twitter one time. It still makes me laugh!

See you all next week.

Manic... um.. Tuesday?

It seemed particularly funny that the week before last I kind of threatened not to "LOL" again because those who didn't do it regularly (Leuke, Rob) became YouTube Partners. Then I completely unintentionally forgot. And, yes, a mere couple of days before I did become a YouTube Partner. Go figure.

DIY DLOLC

...
...
I honestly don't have the time to write a lol at the moment...

I wrote one anyway...

IE crashed, and took my lol with it. All of it...

This made me depressed...

This is therefore a placeholder until tomorrow, when I might have some genuine spare time.

...
...

Profuse Apologies

I'm a terrible, terrible person. I know. I'm sorry. Here are my (late) lols.

I'm not sure about you, but I don't like to read political blogs. Particularly conservative political blogs like Michelle Malkin. But when I clicked on a link to her blog that I found on the delightful site Chase Me Ladies, I'm in the Cavalry I couldn't help but lol.

I realised Malkin is a living, breathing parody of conservative politics. The fact she's so earnest makes it all the more funny. For example, while on her site, I found this:

Oh Michelle! You're an absolute scream!

Also, why are YouTube videos always better when they have multiple people you know and adore in them? If this video was full of strangers I probably wouldn't have laughed as hard as I did:

Favourite Tweet of the week:

From the lolfolder:
It just looks so pleased!

And while I know it's like a rule we're not allowed to use things created by the other lolers, this Skype convo I had with Rob was just too good to be true:

Now I have this insatiable craving for glazed doughnuts. Damn you Michelle and your Laissez Faire economic policies!

And All Their Woodland Friends

It's been another one of those weeks. Like, y'know, the kind I seem to have had every week since university went back. On the other hand - I've started vlogging again! Hoorays! I think I can maintain this format more effectively than the old method, and it's a bit more unique.

Dancing Animals in Love

You pretty much need to see this to believe it. The Vancouver Film School's progeny are a very strange breed...

Charlie the Unicorn

I figure there have to be a few people out there that still don't know the joy that is Charlie and Candy Mountain. For those poor deprived fools, here is the full version. Be sure to watch right to the end...

One more video for y'all is this little semi-gem, in keeping with my Woodland Animal Friends edition of everyone's favourite lol collection. It's Bambi, only... Not.

This last picture never fails to make me smile. Or at least, it hasn't yet. Keep lolling people; see you next week!
